Not sure what this'll mean for The Walking Dead.

I don't think it will do anything to TWD, just future projects. I wish TWD would leave AMC, though.

It just means Kirkman is making exclusive things for Amazon for at least the next 2 years. Sorta like how TWD and Thief of Thieves (if they ever make it) are exclusively for AMC and Outcast for Cinemax. If Amazon passes on a project, Kirkman is probably still allowed to shop it around to other networks but Amazon gets to look at the new shit before anyone else.

Amazon isn't buying Skybound and this won't affect already existing things. AMC owns the television rights to TWD (That's why it's called AMC's The Walking Dead) and Kirkman will likely stay on as a consultant as he has in the past. I don't imagine Kirkman ever had that big of a role in the writers room day to day anyways. He's probably only there now when the season is being mapped out and Gimple has contact with him any time there are some questions but that's probably about it these days. Kirkman also usually shows up to the big press events like Comic Con.

It just pisses me off that this is a bit late. A Invincible TV series with Amazon backing it could have been amazing.

I'm sure whatever he creates will be amazing for awhile and then completely shit the bed and become a boring soap opera.

When I read about this deal, it seemed to fit that TPTB seemingly have been more focused on pushing thru the comic book agenda to wrap up this thing; not that it shouldn't be mercy killed some time soon. I know the show runner is hyper focused on recreating the GN, just seems that, in addition to a general lack of original creative inspiration, the deal with Amazon could be a factor or I could just be reaching for meaning in the meaningless
