Another Poe fan here. I also really love Stephen King's stuff into the 90's. I haven't read anything by him since high school, so I'm way behind. And while I don't find them creepy, I am into urban fantasy - werewolves, vampires, the like. Patricia Briggs, especially.

Dean Koontz is one of my favorite authors. The way he writes about horror makes it seem entirely possible. I've read a lot of his work ~ too too numerous to mention, but The Face, Midnight, and Velocity are standouts.
