    Battle at the Prison

    Something occurred to me when re-watching the second prison battle (when the Gov and Co. actually breached the crappy defenses and went inside);

    Why didn't the group simply lock the doors to the tombs, hide, then once the Gov's crew was all inside, lock the outer doors?

    They would all die of dehydration within days! And, if they tried blasting their way out, they could be picked off fairly easily from the outside.

    I'm sure this possibility has been discussed before, but I can't find any discussions regarding this particular tactic.

    Does anyone agree?

    Because they needed a reason to leave the prison and continue the storyline.
    I always liked how The Prison vs Woodbury happened in the comics. Everyone from the prisons side died and woodbury won and took over. Thats why Rick and Carl ran and had to escape.
    However in the show, The Prison won and the crew could have easily picked off the walks in the field and used the governors cars to block the area when the fence was broken down until they can build a wall. Have 3-5 people watching the cars 24/7 incase walkers crawl over them. The point is that they could have made an effort to keep the prison alive. They all just ran away.

    Well, Woodbury won. But its implied they all died in the prison after the herd followed them in.

    I doubt the Guv would make the same mistake twice (but ya never know) of sending all his troops inside an unfamiliar structure to try to root-out opponents that have the home-field advantage.

    His "plan" appeared to be:

    Phase 1: Collect underpants....Intimidate Team Prison with his tank and hostages

    Phase 2: ???

    Phase 3: Profit

    TG had overwhelming numbers and the tank support, so he could have kept pounding the prison for a while till the herd grew and overwhelmed him. Should have ended with TG stuck inside the tank with no fuel or ammo and the herd outside just like Rick, but no one to help.
