Its kind of interesting, because they release these titles knowing people will talk about them. I.e.-

"Nebraska? What the fuck, they're in Georgia. They're not going to take off for Nebraska, are they? Sophia just died, is Hershel making them leave the farm?" etc.

Then of course, it has almost nothing to do with that. ("I hear Nebraska's nice.") I think they just sit up there and giggle at their misleads.

I like it when shows/movies do that. Can't explain why. Though we defiantly needed Tyreese to say it in the recent episode. Everyone was 'wth' about it.
I was looking for this to post myself!

I think it's pretty genious. It's like the hightlight of the episode, when they mention during a conversation the name of the episode. Gives a true meaning to the title. Sometimes we watch some episodes of other tv shows and we ask: "Why did they give that name to this episode? It makes no sense."

I guess I just like my episode titles and how they relate to the actual episode to be a little more ambiguous. Having to say it in the dialogue every time seems forced. I don't like being spoon fed, let the audience think on it. And yes I'm aware they've been doing this season 1.

Too Far Gone was part of a Rick's speech though and it was a really powerful moment in the series.

When Maggie said "No, It's just four walls and a roof" It's just like... ENOUGH ALREADY.

But whatever, it's no secret that Gimple for all of the great things he's done is absolutely terrible at naming the episodes. While Mazzara was the worst Showrunner they've had I think he had the best episode titles.

I actually always perceived it as the script/dialogue was already written, so they just took a line or quote to be the title. At least that's how it felt here. Not that they hamfisted the episode title into the dialogue.

Didn't they say "We need more Guts", or something along those lines, way back in that episode in season 1?
Season 2 there's a bunch of episodes where the title is mentioned in a character's dialogue (Secrets, Cherokee Rose, Chupacabra, Pretty Much Dead Already, Nebraska)
Season 3 , if memory serves, only title dropped the one time (Clear).

It's not something novel or exclusive to TWD. Buffy did it a lot.

YES, THIS!!!! Thank you, I was thinking the same thing and wondering why no one else was suggesting it. I can't believe the title is written before the script is, so it's probably a line of dialogue that stands out to the writers as significant to the storyline, or just plain catchy... so they use it as the episode title.

Yeah, generally titles are the last thing tacked on to a piece of written work. Often authors say they don't know what the title is until the story is finished being written. My guess is they pluck out the "cool quote" from the scripts to be episode titles. It doesn't work the opposite, that would be asinine.
