Not sure how Father G is in the comics. So I'll go with TV Gabriel

TV show version of Gabe definitely. I don't hate Gabriel in the comics, but he's just sort of there. He's a pretty unique character, but at the same time I don't find him all that interesting (and that's probably because he's been sidelined for so much time now).
But I love TV Gabriel. I feel like Seth Gilliam brings so much layers to this character (and I don't think some of them are even in the script). He's got limited screen time but Seth manages to make the most out of it. Like when there was a scene in 6x07 where Rick tears down his flyers. It's a few seconds long without any dialogue, but SG manages to convey so much with his face and movement in this short moment. I also think Gabriel is one of the few characters on the show that have consistently strong writing. I can't wait to see what they do with him in the rest of this season and I hope he lives to see season 7.

    TV Father Gabriel, by far.

I fucking hated the character in the comics. Maybe it was just due to me reading the words in a different tone than they were intended to be read (text is harder to decipher in terms of whether or not a character is intending to be rude, sarcastic, condescending, and so on, than a character onscreen actually speaking.) I considered comic-Gabriel to be very pretentious and condescending about his religion and I hated him. I hated him so much that when I heard he was coming to the show, I was like, "Uggh... This fucking guy. God damn it. This will be excruciating."

But it wasn't like that... Seth Gilliam does a great job making the character much more likable. I was actually very shocked when I loved him on the show, because I did not expect to at all. He's in my top-4 favorite characters on the show.

I wondered why SG would take the role of Fr.Gabriel bc he could be such a bland character and on tv with a cast as large as they have on TWD, SG could easily fade away but he has taken everything offered him and done wonders with it to turn small moments in to powerful character moments. that is good acting...more, more!!

I LOVE tv Gabriel ! i always liked him even as a coward because he's such an interesting character and is acted so well, and I am so happy that they had him finally step up in no way out and have kept him getting better and tougher at this point in the show, rather than waiting like 3 years down the line like in the comics lol. he's one of my favorites

TV show Gabriel. Comics Gabriel is just a coward through and through. In the TV show, he ditches his cowardice for good. And that makes him better in the TV show.
