Kids love dressing up. I sincerely doubt my kids are scarred from the many Halloween costumes they selected, most of which involved fake blood.

Excuse me for a moment - I have to go pick up my eyes from the corner of the room, where they ended up after rolling out of their sockets so hard.

Yep. This explains soooooooo much. My brother was scared, obviously, by my mom dressing him as the Headless Horseman for Halloween one year. He flinches at the sight of Jack-O-Lanterns to this day. And we're all scarred by playing with those little green army men who had guns and bazookas. Let's not even mention all those cowboy and Indian movies we used to watch. Someone should hang John Wayne in effigy! And the Lone Ranger! The nerve!

Some people need to get lives.

Facebook sucks. It always has, IMO. we should all revert to MySpace. (The original MySpace, that is).

My daughter is 8. She has been doing Comic Cons in Canada since she was 6. She always dresses as the Teddy Bear girl. So far she seems fine. I think those other kids will be fine too.

Though the Carol and Lizzie one is a little disturbing to me, this is pretty much harmless, and I don't think the kids would feel anything negative because of this. It's the same as dressing up for Halloween or pretending to shoot at each other, as kids do all the damn time. Kids love playing with pretend weapons, foam swords, light sabers, retractable plastic knives, plastic guns. They know it's not real. Just like they know that on Halloween they are't really a vampire now. The carol and Lizzie photo looks disturbing because the one child is kneeling and it looks less playful, but it's still just as harmless as the movie "The Good Son." No matter how much it makes you feel uneasy, everyone involved knows it's not real, and is just art.

I don't understand how this will scar kids? Worse comes to worse just say it was a Halloween photo shoot. Kids dress up as demons and monsters for Halloween and if they don't they see them anyways, it happens every year. Kids see violence in movies and videogames, how is playing dress up worse than that? I don't see anything wrong here.

In the 1970's toy guns were probably one of the most popular toys out there. Between my brother and I, I can't count how many cap guns we had. Not to mention plastic toy rifles and if those weren't around, we used sticks. If we were scarred for life, we are blissfully unaware of it
