Rick Was More Negan Than Negan [POLL]

In S5-6, Rick did a lot of questionable things, immoral things. Let's compare and contrast?

    Rick

    - Viewed people not directly as family as expendable
    - Murdered a woman's husband, whom he had weird feelings for.
    - Essentially was directly the cause of the Anderson family being wiped from existence.
    - Extorted more than Negan from The Hilltop.
    - Unprovokingly murdered a large group of people (in their sleep).

    And so far Negan has

    - Used threats of violence to extort goods and services from people weaker than him.
    - Murdered entire groups who didn't comply after only murdering just one to make a point.

After typing this out, I've got to wonder if there's any debate about this but it's interesting to think about considering how immoral Rick has been and what led to Negan attacking them.

I'm going with "they're about the same". Just shows that this sort of world can really blur the lines on things. Everything is relative.

You bring up a POV that I honestly hadn't thought of until this point.

Rick really is just as much of an antagonist in this story as he is protagonist.

I think in most cases the ZA makes almost everyone into an antagonistic version of him or herself, regardless of whether you'd want to become like that. It's a fight for survival almost everyday. You live like that long enough it's hard not to become similar to feral dog. I'd say they're about the same. The only difference being that I think Negan enjoys being like that more than Rick does.

Agree with all, but especially agree with your last point.

It really depends so much on whose point of view in which the story is being told from. I've seen people use the ZA to justify some pretty heinous acts. If this were Negans story and it was written right than going full Mark McGwire on a teenager's head could be justified. The kneeling down to him would probably be looked at as a bit odd bit I can see people justifying it as a means to keep the group in line for the greater good. If a group were to kill numerous members of TF then people would be lining up to support Rick bashing their head in like a piñata at a birthday party. As evidenced by those that advocate Carol killing someone in her own group to get to a person that killed within TF. Also those that back Rick for killing Bob Lamsom when all he did was knock Sasha out. TF straight up invaded their home and killed them in their sleep. I'm still going to have to see more of what Negan brings to the table but as of now I would say that Rick is easily up there with him.

I went with they're about the same- for now anyway.
    But it's only just begun.

I know this is a lil off subject- but in my opinion, Rick even LOOKS more intimidating than Negan. I really like JDM- but he should've gained a little weight for the part or they should've casted someone else. (Preferably Henry Rollins.) In the pics & video I've seen of the cast, JDM looks a lot smaller than Rick. And Rick isn't a big guy.
I don't like that at all- I think it takes away from the character.

I don't know how can people still come with this Negan and Rick are on the same level... Rick might have done some pretty messed up things, became neutral to violence when it wasn't his family... but for god's sake, Negan is a sadist, I guess that is okay? He irons people face if they don't comply, he bashes people heads in with a bat and he is having fun while doing it, also keeping the pics of the corpses?

How can we even make this comparison?

Anything Rick does it is for his family. (okay except for Pete.)
Anything Negan does it is for himself.
