‘Karate Kid’ TV Sequel Starring Ralph Macchio & William Zabka Set For YouTube Red

The series, from Sony Pictures Television Studios and Overbrook Entertainment, reteams Ralph Macchio and William Zabka in their star-making roles from the feature franchise.

Logline: Thirty years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, a down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo, reigniting his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), who has been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi. The show is about two men addressing past demons and present frustrations the only way they know how: through karate.

Cobra Kai is written and executive produced by Josh Heald (Hot Tub Time Machine), and Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar, American Reunion). Together, the trio conceived of the new Karate Kid storyline that picks-up decades after the original film ends. Hurwitz & Schlossberg will direct much of the series. James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett will executive produce for Overbrook Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television Studios.

I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand I loved those movies but the poor guy is dead..and we all know how multiple sequels turn out to be. I feel they're gonna butcher it and taint the originals. I mean look what they did to dirty dancing ffs. They butchered it with that shit remake

I would watch this. I saw Ralph Macchio in Rob Lowe’s roast and he was pretty funny. After that I though he would have a comeback. I’ll keep a look out for this.
