Shows That Were Great That Nobody Talks About Anymore

    I'll start:

    The Shield

    2002-2008

In many ways this is the show that started it all for the "Golden age of TV". Pretty much this and The Sopranos (Though I think The Sopranos was more of a bridge in between the new era and old era) for the most part and then Breaking Bad shortly after The Shield. I think because FX wasn't as big of a channel at the time and Breaking Bad was really when people started paying attention to television this show is often forgotten. It's kinda why I made this thread. I seriously never hear ANYONE talk about The Shield anymore and it's puzzling because it was such a fucking great show.

You can look at shows like Justified, Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy and you can see influences from The Shield in them all. Especially Sons of Anarchy where Kurt Sutter (the creator) got his start as a writer on The Shield and brought a lot of the same people over to SoA.

The main character, Vic Mackey, is one of the the greatest characters to ever appear on Television and Michael Chiklis' performance is amazing. He really brought that character to life. The show also pretty much launched Walton Goggins' career. I don't think many people talked about the guy till he portrayed Shane.

And for Walking Dead fans, Laurie Holden had a big role in the final season. Glenn Close & Forest Whitaker were also in the show.

    The Killing

It never had great ratings, but the cast was great and unfortunately AMC cancelled it. Thankfully Netflix stepped in and gave it an ending.

Everyone talks about Breaking Bad. lol. And Bates Motel just ended and was quite popular. I still need to watch the final season though.

Outsiders was fucking great though. Super bummed it got canceled. I was like 2 or 3 eps behind when it got canned so I still haven't even finished it because I got so angry.

Banshee is a weird show. I really loved it but I'm surprised how little attention that show got the entire 4 years it was on.

Justified was awesome too. I've heard it might return some day.

I've never seen Six Feet Under, Fringe or The Killing.

    I'll add another:

Todd and the Book of Pure Evil
    2010-2012

It's a pretty obscure Canadian show that I loved that got canceled way too soon. It has a "Buffy" vibe mixed with some "Evil Dead" and if you are a metalhead that is also a huge part of the show. It's also super politically incorrect which is a thing I miss in Comedy. Also, Jason Mewes (Jay from Jay and Silent Bob) plays the school janitor for some reason. lol.

Banshee was amazing and it sucks it'll never get the recognition it deserves but I can see why it wouldn't too

Fringe took parts of the x files and Twilight Zone and mixed them into a package with the second half of the series based on the idea of a parallel universe. The new starz show Counterpart is very reminiscent of it too.

Six Feet Under was MCH before Dexter and unlike Dexter the end was amazing.

Ill add Prison Break, SOA and Halt and Catch Fire although it only ended just recently on AMC

Freaks and Geeks was such a great show that nobody watched. It was cancelled after only one season. It was set in the 80's (before it was cool again), and followed a group of freaks/stoners and geeks in high school.

There were so many no name actors on the show that went on to be huge stars, like Seth Rogen, James Franco, Linda Cardinelli, Jason Segal, Busy Phillips, Martin Starr, etc. It was one of my favorite shows of all time, and most people haven't seen it.

Another show that no one really ever watched that I loved was Community.

My Name is Earl is a show that everyone I've showed has fallen in love with. So damn funny.
