7/10 It was a really good episode and a nice way to set up this season that was completely ruined for me because of that deer. How can they let that happen again after the last one? It was so ridiculously fake looking.

I gave it a 9. It was a solid, consistent premiere. The only thing I truly disliked was Aaron's conversation with Michonne at the beginning about whether they were the good guys.

    8. What a refreshing change of pace after the wretched season 5 of Fear that we just endured! I counted off for the speechifying. If we've heard that speech once, we've heard it a thousand times; and, Aaron, if you need to mention Eric and Jesus in writers' fanservice, can't you just say, "I miss Eric and Jesus" instead of making them the reason for another speech?

    I love Eugene.

I know Siddiq explained what happened with the murders last season, and we saw his PTSD manifest in tonight's show. I was intrigued by the flashbacks he was having and hoping we'll see more of them.

I loved Connie's line to Daryl that he signs with a southern accent and his response.

It wasn't awful but it wasn't great. It was just okay for me.
We laughed through most of the artsy viking beach dance.

I think someone's been studying medieval/iron age battle strategies with that beach scene, lol. But it's probably a smart tactic when fighting walkers & Whisperers, though I don't see it working too well against a large herd.

Didn't like the hokey fire-putting-out scenes.

Does Dog ever walk anywhere? Anytime I see him he seems to be tearing about at a gallop. My own dogs look like sloths in comparison.

    Overall, a good start. I'll say 7.5.

Whelp, I gave it a 2. I'd give it a 10 if this was the eye roll scale.

I felt as if I was watching a Hallmark movie with all the sappy conversations: Michonne and Aaron still carrying on about whether they are the "good guys", Daryl and Carol with, "is this all there is?" BS--yes DIMWITS you've been at it for ten years this is ALL THERE IS!! follwoed up with the let's run away together garbage all wrapped up by the cringefest of Judith telling the "Brave Man" story to RJ and Michonne's sing song tone and hugs all around.
Forgot to add the battle scene looked like more like a Beyoncé video than a medieval battle formation, but by all means bring on the boiling vats of oil!

Reliance on the convenience fairy is at an all time high with one very old satellite (USSR dissolved in 1991) falling to Earth thisclose to Oceanside but miraculously far enough away that it hurt no one. Bonus footage of Daryl the firefighter with supreme axe throwing skills!!
It was truly something watching Alpha step out to preen herself on the rock that Carol just happened to be staring at after she and Daryl skipped off to do what exactly I am not sure.

Just in case we forgot about some dead characters, they ticked the boxes including Rick, Eric (whose walker body is still shambling about), Jesus, and Tara (who would be so proud!)

Eugenius (great name) going to find some useful satellite parts in 5 minutes, and his sheer panic when he saw the parts streaking in the sky as if he could figure out the location of impact in seconds LOL!
Rosita looked awful and exceedingly pale--get that girl some iron!
What "meds" are they sorting out?

    Some things I liked:
Negan on work release and Fr. Gabe's exasperation with him.
    Siddiq flashbacks/PTSD?

Overall, this episode felt like I was being bludgeoned over the head with what's up next. No nuance, too contrived, and positively comical.
